Moldies

Apparently a forum was set up during the Gina Ford fiasco, where GF threatened to close Mumsnet down. MN did go offline a couple of times and that scared us a bit, but  a couple of us found sanctuary at the BMC ( bad mothers Club) they welcomed us and came on our site ( when it was fixed) and we welcomed them.  I remember quite clearly that a couple of well known mnetters were there.  At the SAME time another mumsnetter set up a a yahoo group and sent out invites.

So when it came to light  in November i was sure it was the Yahoo group.

It wasn’t. Some prolific posters( Cod, twig, and others that no one really noticed) left and went to a forum that was created for another purpose and to all intense and purposes defunkt. Turned the lights on and invited others who had professed their dissilusion at MN. In some futile attampt at democracy they put up a poll and invited mumbers to vote on whether a person should be allowed in.

A Poll with someones name on.   This ( we have been told)  lasted v. briefly. to be replaced by a list of people and if one objected  they could send a veto to the  ‘admin’ (dark lords) who made a decision. No one knows how many vetos  it took. its all very secret.

Secrecy was the name of the game. there were periodic cries of ” it wasn’t meant to be secret  but….Private”

Which quite fankly is horseshit. an ex member ( who resigned after noting the way it ran) informed MN that phrases in the same ilk of “phew that was close” after nearly being outed some months ago – wee banded around fairly often.

one of the Moldies commented that their only sadness was that they couldn’t invite  MN friends or tell them about it.

some people are quite frankly so desperate to remain friends with these pathetic self obsessed halfwits, that they say things like ” well, so what if i have friends who are moldy”

and moldies are saying things like ” well so what if i post on here, i still have friends on MN”

can i ask ….what kind of friendships these are? Where a friend will either

a) join a secret organisation and not tell you

b) join a secret organisation, nominate you behind your back and without your knowledge

c) do (b) friend gets rejected but you stay in group

d) Don’t nominate friend to secret group

so – you tell me. Who treats their friends like that?

Private! pmsl there are 143 of them, and they truly believe there is not one journo among them? BUUUUULLLshit.

who broke it to the national papers? SOme of them tried arguing that MNHQ did it, but if you read the original article and quotes, i don’t think that MN comes off very well at all, neither does anyone else.

did you have a lightbulb moment? yip, me too.

There was  two posters who were my idols, the ones i would most love to meet. SOOOOOOO not the kiss ass codites the rest of them are.

and proper oldies from when it all first started, not these parvenu codites.

and they all participate in keeping this place a secret and they all agree – i mean  its implicit with being a member – with how they do nominations.

Elitist. secret.
