For Jakes last appt. I dropped him off and went for a coffee in Macdonalds.  I havent been in Maccy D’s for years but it does good coffee, even though its evil.  As a Catholic we like a bit of evil - it makes it better

I read some more Catcher whilst i was waiting in Maccy D’s

….moan moan whinge…whinge hinge moan….”Goddam” this “Goddam that”.  OOOOH social revalation……a kid at school hadl phoney suitcases he ‘goddam’ hates ‘phoney’ suitcases does Caulfield and although he got on with the kid and he misses the kids SOH, he prefers Stradlater. Stradlater had good suitcases. Well the metaphore isn’t subtle at all.  he does the same thing with the nuns at the station and a Catholic reference - that Catholics like Catholics - they don’t not like non Catholics but they like Catholics more. 

I swear to God anyone could read anything into this book - anything at all.  It’s a great set text for schools, as long as someone goes a little psychoanalyical on any particular part… the schools, the characters, the biblical references, the literary references - ANYTHING.

At a basic level though - this story is shit, the plot is crap and i hope to God Caulfield does himself in at the end. Unless this thing picks up i might just do myself in to save me the excruciating agony of finishing it.

Came home opened a letter of Joe’s from his work which asked to clarfy if he was still in their employ! Christ. He phoned them up and told them he was still on the sick, He told them that he had another sick note to cover him for a second week of illness, but he would be back in on Monday.(my strong suggestion.) They told him to go back to the doctors and get a note saying he can return to work. So i told him to get an appt, he did immediatley and we rushed of to doctors, he got a note saying he could return to work, he felt better that this cloud was lited - you know how you get when you ignore things and they get worse - i do it myself sometimes - but not to that degree.  so its all good now and we had a hug in the car and told each other we loved the other and  i told him that he needed to register to vote. Seriously. about 5 mins later in the car i told him he should register to vote.  I can’t let anything lie. He said he wanted to wait til he could be bothered finding things out and making a proper choice, i said people had died so that working class people could vote, it was his duty….. we kept it light hearted….ish.  I phoned up and have got him a form sent out anyway.  He should vote - even go to spoil the ballot - make a statement, but be BOTHERED. 

So he with the bad back (bollocks) has gone with his younger bro skateboarding on the ‘Close’ its a small cul-de sac with great tarmac for skating.

They have even waxed the kerbs.  The Police came round the Close yetserday they told me, told them that they can get £100 fine for skating.  It was probably PCSOs rather than the real Bizzers becuase lets hoping the real bizzers have something to actually do rather than this insipid torture of teenagers disguised as “tackling ASB” in line with the Government agenda.  Seriously, I am sure the Govt are talking about inner cities, drugs, crime etc….not skaters in a small town where old people come to die.  This is not enforcing  ’The Respect agenda’.  Kids skateboarding is not a lack of respect Goddam it, its kids….
